TPI wiring harness builders?
TPI wiring harness builders?
Ok guys, I am new to this page from the second gen page. I have a second gen that I am building and have put a stock TPI setup on it. I am about to the point where I will need a wiring harness. I have the original 1988 harness, and am thinking about having it modified. I made a number of other conversions as well. I put a 1990 700R4 with some buildup in the car, dual electric fans, 1990 serpentine belt system. I need a harness/harnesses to accomodate this. Can one of you point me in the right direction? I have talked to painless and am not impressed. I also have the 1227727 computer for under hood mounting from a vette.

Is the '88 harness from a TPI engine? If so, and you're running the 165 ECM, you should be good to go. The '88 TPI had dual fans, serp belt setup and a 700R4.
Thanks guys,
I have sent email's off to the companies referenced. Anxiously awaiting replies. I am curious i had the 1227730 computer, other than water proofing is there any difference if used with the 1227727 computer? The A/C and alt are reversed since I used the 90 serpentine system, but I can probably handle something that simple. Funny, I can build engines all day long, but a little electrical stuff is foreign to me.

I think Street & Performance seels a plug and play kit. They used to be at www.tunedport.com I am pretty sure it was based on the 7730 ECM.
Hope that helps,

Doug, run what you have. The '88 harness has added stuff like drivers side stuff like starter, headlights, gauge senders, which can be culled out. You will be able to use your stock 2nd gen wiring for that stuff.
Thanks guys, lots of great ideas. One of the problems with painless is they don't include much with their harnesses, have to have separate harnesses for everything. I like the design of the original which has most everything bundled together.
