Went to to see the car yesterday its coming out awesome..

this is STILL being tuned ...

its a 383 stroker,First performance intake,lpe219 cam by lingenfelter,edelbrock headers,custom 3 inch y-pipe 4.5 inch mufflex exhaust with a 2 chamber flowmaster..36lb injectors it is tuned with a holley hp efi system

 

that sounds good.

I am also in Nj, northern Nj morris county area. are you up this way or down the shore?

I have never heard of a 4.5" mufflex exhaust. I know mufflex is down in south jersey, and I might consider heading down there one day to inquire about a custom 4" setup for when i put the nitrous onto the new 406 engine in the winter. DId mufflex do the work for you? how the heck did a huge 4.5" pipe get routed over the axle ?

Denny is the Man he did a full custom exhaust on it for us yes 4.5 fits no problem...i dont know if he does 4.5 anymore or just up to 4 inch ill attach some pics of the system...he knows his 3rd gens we have a 91 z28 that has a 4 inch on it fit like a glove.

 

awesome! looks like I will take a ride down three one day. I don't need that big of an exhaust just yet (only making 531 hp currently) but with a 200 nitrous shot on it, I will need more than my 3" setup. thanks!

Were do you live awesome to see another 3rd gen in the area.

 

From you, we're down by the lower exits on 287 South, or take the GSP South depending on traffic because you know how it is over there in the late afternoon. Borderline Marlboro and Old Bridge Townships, about ten to fifteen minutes with no traffic when we head over to Menlo Mall...

Oh wow you are close..lol will have to meet up sometime waiting to get the car back now...he was tuning it and noticed the rear was making a noise called us to come listen to it..car was sitting for awhile it had the 9 bolt rear in it he said possible the cones were sticking...a week later he called us said rear was getting worse .so we said upgrade it so he is putting in a s60 dana rear by strange with 3.54 gears.. that's why we're waiting for them to deliver it now.

 

Sounds like a plan. Few of us have been planning races for over at Atco while waiting for everything to pass, but its been a very slow process. Mine is currently under the knife as well, been making a few changes before the tracks officially open up, though I am pretty sure they have been having test and tune sessions recently. Give me a shout when you're ready to head down to the track...

Island Dragway is open now for Test and Tune on weekends.

I went on saturday and made 11 passes in 3 hours. Atco is a bit of a drive for me (2.5 hours) and Island is only 25 minutes, so that's where I will be going mostly

 

Island is about an hour from us we will definitely be going there once the car is back just waiting on the rear to come in from strange

 

Hmm, a 406 and a 383, I'm gonna have my hands full with you two I see....

Haha, it's definitely fair game. I'm only running off the gate, 7-psi max this year. I'm making the same power as you guys, we should all be running in the 11's or 12's depending on launch. Will definitely be a drivers race, that is for sure...

Thank you! Parts used are not anything special, mainly just ported to the max stuff (heads and intake, etc). Original cam I went with was similarly ground based off of a Grand National spec, just larger because of the bigger engine. Too much overlap though, back then I forgot the GN's came with that ancient assisted braking. Mine had poor vacuum at idle (13" P/N & 11 in Gear), so I ditched it and went with another just recently, its now showing 18" at idle so now I can't at least stop in traffic even after a few pumps. Was about to put the stock five speed back in because I thought this Covid nonsense was going to.keep the tracks closed, figured the manual would be fun on the street, but was told that the tracks would be opening soon, so I halted. Stock rear gears, 3.42, which is a tad too much. Boost still comes in at 2400-RPM, but I blow through the gears. Few suspension tweaks here and there, trans is 4 speed automatic with TCI stall speed. So yeah, no glorified parts, very old school build. You guys can tell me what you think when we get to the track...

A lot of the sanctioning bodies for our cars (specifically) in the area are gone, especially with e-town calling it quits. A few groups remain, but membership is lacking because people have moved on to entirely different cars. Which is understandable...

A good one to join up with is Empire Muscle Cars, because they are very involved, and are universal, not just focused on one type/.brand of car. Nyce1's as well, great bunch of guys. Trying to bring the Import vs Domestic competition, as well as Ratchet Friday from e-town over to Atco. I haven't raced at Island in a very long time, I remember there being a dip somewhere in the lane, I think at the end, which was very dangerous. I'm sure it has been fixed since then (I would hope lol)...

well, I am glad to see that both of you guys are planning on coming up to Island dragway. keep me in the loop. I was there this Saturday for test and tune and made 11 passes! mostly low to mid 12's even hot lapping it and with heat soak. (details, videos, photos, can be found in m build thread) my best pass was a 12.20 at 112 mph. my mph is lower than I expected, so that needs some work. I also need to do some work on my WOT fuel table, but my goal for this year is 11.999 before I put the nitrous plate on it with a 200 shot.


anyways, keep up the progress, and I'll keep an eye out on this thread

 

Am curious to see what your sixty foot was as well as where your converter flashes, with that kind of power you should be in the 11's for sure. That 200 shot is going to make one hell of a difference...

I'm curious why you choose the S60 rear instead of maybe a 9 inch or 12-bolt. Which posi unit did you choose for the S60?

The shop doing the work is a strange dealer he recommended this rear said its bulletproof.. we went with the 3.54 gears Spicer Trac-lock (clutch style) posi unit, Standard gear set, 35 spline Alloy axles, 7/16” or 1/2” wheel studs, HD

 

my hemi: also, keep in mind that there is a local New Jersey camaro/firebird club that has its own message board. I am on it under the same username. I know StreetLethal is also on there. there hasn't been too much activity on the forum recently though, but it comes and goes. there are a bunch of cool 10 second 4th gens on there and we try to do monthly gatherings, picnics, bbq places,. some guys run track rental days at Atco and Island dragway.
