EGR to EGR solenoid?

As I recall, this fitting from the EGR somehow attaches to the EGR solenoid, OR DOES IT? It's been a few years (make that many years) since I tore this all apart, but I'm missing something. Can someone guide me in the right direction?

Mike

Re: EGR to EGR solenoid?

That plug looks like it goes to the EGR temp sensor located on the side of the EGR on TPI cars. When that sensor goes it usually causes code 32 to pop on the highway when cruising. The EGR solenoid in your second pic has no wires going to it, just vacuum hoses IIRC

Re: EGR to EGR solenoid?

I replaced all my EGR stuff last year fighting that code 32. The parts can be hard to come by other than the valve itself but beware the parts store valves need to be modified for plenum clearance, the AC Delco I found was exactly like factory. The solenoid and temp sensor I had to get from Corvette suppliers on eBay, they were all I could find and the solenoid will not mount in the factory spot unless you modify a bit/get creative . Maybe now you could get the factory Fbody parts but I don’t know for sure.

The solenoid if you’re going to use it the vacuum starts under the throttle body then to the solenoid onto the egr.

I'm eliminating emissions through the ECM, so is there anything I physically need to do to the EGR and corresponding connections to guarantee success in this transplant?

Re: EGR to EGR solenoid?

since your deleting just leave the pink and black wire disconnected from the egr solenoid. , leave the single wire bulk to tempo switch disconnected and put a vacuum cap under the throttle body vacuum nipple.
you might want to sell the solenoid there are getting hard to find.
the picture shows where a filter would of been installed for a vent.

Re: EGR to EGR solenoid?

There is also a nice EGR block off kit available if you are deleting it.

You are correct....that wire does come from the temp sensor.........what does it hook up to? Since I'm eliminating the EGR there isn't a need for it, is there?

If I am not using this, will there be any reason to use the charcoal canister? My tank does not have a nipple for venting, just supply and return lines.

Re: EGR to EGR solenoid?

The egr temp sensor goes from the egr sensor to ecm pin c15.
might want to ohm before ripping out or leave disconnected.
if the evaporate system isn’t going to be used have it programmed out.
