Ok folks I have a newly acquired ‘88 GTA with 350 TPI. It seems to be running rich. I installed a new Delphi MAF sensor as it was getting a code 34 and that seems to have fixed that for the moment. Next on the hit list is it seems to be running rich. I planned to replace the O2 sensor but was speaking with a mechanic buddy that said check the coolant temp sensor. I pursued the board here and found the ohms chart that matches to temps and set out to check that. I keep my garage at 58deg and the ohms reading was 4,520. According to the chart I would say meh not bad. So where should I go next?
lol @Tuned Performance, you are on it! No Service Engine Soon lights on. Seems to affecting overall fuel economy but it smells rich at start up if that makes sense. It seems to run ok. Now this is the 3rd one of these cars so I am not a novice but would not claim to be an expert either. To give you some context, when I was checking codes before I was using a paperclip and then advanced to a module that made the connection. I have not checked any codes yet and I am sure I need to go purchase a Moates link and get the TunerPro software loaded to get a better idea on what this thing is doing.
If you haven’t already check for fuel in the vacuum line going to fuel pressure regulator. Fuel pressure bleed off to see if you have leaking injectors. Or could be a bad ecm . Can tap on it’s case while running to see if running changes.
Well after reading some threads it was the "duh" moment. However, I am showing a code 33 MAF sensor as well which is intriguing as I just put a new Delphi MAF on and I pretty sure I have discounted the battery to reset since.
I'll have to check it. One thing I will mention. The car had not been started in a couple weeks and I decided to run it a couple miles down to O'Reilys. I started before warming it up (40deg F outside) and it popped up a SES light. I got to O'Reilys was in there maybe 5 min. Came out and no SES light and it seemed to run fine so I went about 15 miles. That may be why the 33 code popped up. Now why it happened that way, I am not sure.
