cam help? L98?

Hey guys!

Well my engine is at the shop getting all rebuilt and they asked me what I want to do with the cam. I'm working on a budget here but they said for an extra $100 (canadian) they can step the cam up a bit.
Now the heads are being fully rebuilt to stock specs....

if I get a mild cam installed, won't it screwup the heads in some way? Could I get a cam now, and wait until next year to get a port/polish done to stock heads?

I'm on a pretty tight budget here I work hard for my money. But since engine is out should I choose a little more radical cam? What would you suggest? I dont want anything that will mess with the computer too much. I'm not looking for huge hp but i wouldn't mind getting 300hp out of this motor, and have reliability as well my breaks are going to need to be done soon so I need to set aside $$$ for that as well.

What lift, duration is the Cam? As long as the engine is out I'd say put a cam in. If the cam isn't above like a .48 lift it won't mess up anything. With my cam (and most) you'll need to get new springs to handle the lift, but thats with a .50 and up lift.

The stock L98 heads can not handle a cam with much lift unless they are cut for it and you get new springs. A great way to step up about 20hp for cheap is an LT1 cam. You can't go much higher than it with stock L98 heads. I have an LT1 cam here if you want one. I'm asking $50 for it and I'll throw in a set of LT1 spings along with it. Email me if you are interested.

Ok the cam has been sold. Not only that but more have offered for it, and all in less than one hour too. Geez, It must have been a deal. I got an Accell Super Coil and performance cap for sale too for $30 if anyone wants that too. It's coil in cap for pre-87 distributors.
