Trying to make this fast, Sorry if anything is missed

Car sat for 21 years, Only things I’ve replaced to get it running are
Fuel Tank
Fuel pump
Fuel Filter
Fuel Injectors

car wouldn’t start but would crank unplugged the maf sensor and it started ran rough and idled on its own everytime I tried to start it today I got the new MAFS,
Plugged it in won’t start now even unplugged it won’t fire starting fluid didn’t help now I’m kinda stuck cause it started everytime before I plugged the new one in obviously first thing you’ll tell me to try is spark plugs but hey who doesn’t procrastinate until last minute if it’s not broken don’t fix it

Any update? If it doesn't fire on starting fluid or a little manually administered gasoline, it would be really good to verify ignition and timing.

Not as of right now. Snapped a plug while checking for any fouled gonna try a EZ out to remove, then ignition kit, and timing to see where we’re at currently, just confused on it running fine without MAF and once one was introduced it won’t fire

Re: 1985 z28

If it runs with the MAF disconnected, the ignition system is apparently working acceptably. Even with possibly fouled or worn plugs, enough of them must've been firing sufficiently to ignite some fuel vapor and run the engine.

Unfortunately, diagnosing the problem with a MAF in circuit could get somewhat involved, including oscilloscope measurement of the MAF output signal and waveform. With no MAF input signal the ECM will revert to some backup parameters to at least run the engine well enough to get the vehicle off the road.
