A friend of mine has a TPI on top of a 307 Chevy motor with 307 heads and a TH350 tranny. He is selling all of it for $500.00.
Forgot to ask about the harnss and ECM. He should have those as the motor/tranny came out of the Camaro he bought.

It is a MAF TPI setup.

 

yes good deal if it comes with the computer and harness. A 307 is made from a 327 crank in a 283 block. Long stroke and small bore. Its like the gran daddy of the 305.

 

I am not intersted in the TPI, I was interested in the motor.
If I get it, I'd sell the TPI since I have two already.
I just want to know if the motor is any good for a TPI setup.
My friend that has the motor just yanked it and the tranny out of his Camaro as soon as he got it and slapped a 400+hp 350 with a TH350 on it.

 

its not going to be a massive powerhouse like a 406 or something, but i suspect it will make more power than a stock 305 tpi, depending on the cam in it.

 

Its as big a turd as a 305 is. Why waste your money?

 

It is really a short stroke and a slightly larger bore than a 305 not much though you should pull higher rpms than a 350 and 305 but, the thing really is not worth more than the crank. like above (327 crank) put it in a 350 then you have a 327!

 

307 wasn't a bad motor, it had a bigger bore than the 305 and a shorter stroke, it's kind of like a mini 350. It's not a bad motor, in fact it's alot better than a 305. The only problem is that the factory heads sucked. But with the TPI it should be much more fun than a 305. Get some later 305 heads if you can, and have them ported, run a mild cam, and you'll be smiling.

 

Well, the casting numbers for the block and heads say that they are 307 parts. It isn't a destroked motor, is it?

 

307...........3.875 bore and 3.250 stroke
305...........3.736 bore and 3.480 stroke
350...........4.000 bore and 3.480 stroke
327...........4.001 bore and 3.250 stroke

 

Thats kinda like asking if the 305 and TPI are a good combo. If you think the 305 and TPI are a good combo, then the answer is yes. If you think the 305 and TPI are a bad combo, then the answer is no.

Really, I would not waste my time with a 307 block if you already have a 305.

 

Well, that is why I asked if it was any good.
I am not an engine person, so I asked the board for thier thoughts.
