For your application something around 208-224 duration, and no more than 465-480 lift.

SLP makes a decent grind. part number is 51006 I think.. Its something like 208/212 duration. Lift isn't too high either.

Those heads are not the best in the world, and don't flow all that much IMO..

I have the mods below and love my 305 this way. I am building a 350 for when I blow this up but for now it is a HUGE difference over stock

I purchased unassembled heads and assembled myself with the springs from the summit cam kit and Manley valves . The only areas I took my dremel to were the runners, there was some casting material in there that needed to be cleaned out.

I ran a Comp 210/220 .480/.480 112LS camshaft with untouched vette heads, stock ported TPI, headers, exhaust, etc. with very good results. Best on motor was 13.65 @ 101.xx mph. Dynoed 240rwhp and 308rwtq behind a 5speed.

The S/R's are really not much better than stock 58cc castings IMO.. I dunno what I'd run on a 305.. Prolly those or just ported stock heads.. 305 is touch to build up.. I've done it for fun, but never got much out of them.

I just finished putting in a crane 2032 cam 214/220 ~.500" lift with 1.6 roller rockers and a siamesed base. Only ran for a few days now and needs some tuning still, but with 5* base timing and a little higher fuel pressure, it pulls hard to 5300-5500 rpm where my SLP chip cuts off(@5500rpm). This is a '89 305 TPI 5 speed with 3.42 gears. With the stock cam (207/213?) and stock manifold base, it would start to die somewhere between 4400-5100(hard to tell) Definately higher now. I did lose some low end though like below 1500rpm the car isn't happy in any gear other than 1st.

Hoping for a 13 or really low 14s at 99+.

Forgot to mention this setup was on the original 305 engine and not a 350. I sure miss that little sucker. Suprised the hell out of people when I told them it was only a 305. With a little shot of nitrous(80hp) went 12.8's at 109.5.

Hey David,

I was going through your side. Looks like when you swap motors, you leave the tranny in the car and do the same trick I do.. ??

I also have the 2032 in my 305.. i like it but I have to agree with beast, you lose some low end below 1500, but pulls like a sonofabitch from 2000rpm+ but with your high stall converter that should help fix that problem a little for you... I recommend the 2032, it was easy to install, good roller cam, car runs alot better with it, little bit of a rough idle though.... does't like my stock chip... had to put in a PR chip.. Have fun

I had a custom chip burned which definitely helped a little on the performance. I actually ran the stock chip when I sprayed the car at the track as it had less timing. Driveability was good with either chip.
