What does your T-5 idle at?
Mines at about 800 rpm. This seems high to me.
Just thought I'd ask.
Just thought I'd ask. Free Bird,
Mine idled at 700 when I got it but would fall into open loop if it idled for very long because the O2 sensor would cool off. I raised it to 850 and now it will idle all day in closed loop.
Regards,
Gary Anderson

hey zepher have u noticed a big diff from carb to tpi cause i have TBI and its a peice of junk. i am not sure what to switch to though. i know i can do carb and that would prob be better but is it worth the hassle of spendin all that money and findin a whole system for tpi? thanks
well seeing my engines idles but the trans doesn't i will have to say 0 RPM.....the engine on the other hand Idles at 800 rpm in the '87 and the 88 auto idles at 600

why don't u just do the idle yourself?? its not hard u turn a screw. i would never pay sum1 for that. just get a chilton or haynes manual if u don't know wut your doin. good luck man and don't pay to have that done
I disagree with touching that screw, because the IAC ends up over working, and working out of spec. I'd rather the tech guy at the dealer adjust the idle through the computer.... there are certain things I will play with , and certain things I won't. I like my car to idle nice, and it does, so I don't want to botch it up. Thanx for the advice though. I will double check the idle screw adjustment section in it, see if I am missing something
