Cam/Rocker Combo (with ported intake)

I am currently working on porting a TPI intake that I have here...it's in the process of being cleaned up right now though...Anywho...i got my tax return and want to know what cam/rocker combo would best benifit a siamesed base with SLP runners, and ported plenum? I want a combo that not only works good and gives me a gain in HP but also sounds nice and intimidating.... ;-) Anyone have any combo's that are known for working well?? Thank you for your imput.

Check out the Lingenfelter 211/219 or the TPIS ZZ9.

If it were me, I'd get the LPE 211/219 and any 1.6 roller rockers that you like. A lot of people use the Crane Gold roller rockers, but they aren't cheap, but then again, neither is that cam. Do a search on roller rocker arms and that should help you decide. If money is an issue, you're looking at over $600 with the cam and rockers I mentioned, I'd rather have that cam than an expensive set of rockers.

Okay, I've seen the site, and read what little they had to say about that cam...But I have the money for it, and I am going to consider buying it in your response to this last question....How is this going to idle? Is it going to sound mean? Or will it even be noticed? And what RPM range is this going to provide gain for me? Sorry so many questions, just wanna spend my tax return responsible.. ;-) Thank u for all your help bro!! Oh and what exact spesifications on the rockers? Becuase it has all these diff. options, like stud lenght, and all this other stuff I have no idea about.......please let me know... ;-)

I don't have the 211/219, but I have the LPE 219/219 and love it. It idles nicely at about 700-750 rpm. I could drive the car every single day if I wanted, and I do when I'm not working out of town. It sounds mean/lopey at that rpm too. Not a lot, but enough to notice. With open headers it sounds WICKED!!

I'd get the 211/219 with a long tube TPI setup and the 219/219 with a superram. If you go miniram or LT1 intake sometime down the road, I'd get a lot bigger cam and let the engine rev to about 7000 rpm. Like the big cam TRAXION just put in, don't remember which one it is though.

GM High Tech Performance magazine had a response to a reader's question and they recommended the LPE 211/219 cam and said they have seen many Vettes run low 12's with it and the combo they described. Check out my webpage to see my combo, I hope to see mid 12's this year, but after seeing more of these combos, I might shoot for low 12's.

I've looked at a lot of combos and really like the LPE cams, they seem to make power easier than other cams of similar specs. But they are more expensive. TPIS's cams seem to do well too.

As far as the rockers, I don't remember, I got those a long time ago. Someone else can chime in here. If no one does ask Vader, he'll know for sure.

Well I would like to have that lumpy sounding idle that's clean and mean...I have headers and full catback exahust so i think it should sound pretty nice....I am just hoping it makes the power I need with my soon to have ported intake.....and SLP runners.

Someone got an idea on what type of rocker's I need to put on my 91 Z28 350? What stud messurments, and stuff of that nature I need exactly to go with my new cam i'm soon to purchase!? And I would also need new valve seals and possibly new springs...so if there is a kit u recommend, please take that it mind...

You need 3/8" self aligning rr's. However, you could chose either 7/16" or 3/8" depending on which screw in rocker studs you decide to use based on the lift you will be running with 1.6rr's on that cam.

I just put in compcams 8-502-8 it has 218/224 .495/.503, it sounds really good at idle. And I did not have to adjust the idle up at all, it really sounds badass. Though I did have to get better springs and have the valve guides on my heads cut down to clear the extra lift. The machine shop said that the guides would only clear about .460 in lift, before it hit the seals. I have an L98 with cast irn heads.
