Black Spark Plugs!

I just set my AFPR to 46psi and installed a new Accel Cap, coil and wires. I replaced the plugs at the same time. After 5000 miles my car is running a bit rough and the plugs are black! I guess this means I'm running too rich? Should I cut back the fuel pressure? What else could it be? I also just replaced EVERY sensor in the car. I can't figure this out. HELP! Thanks.

Nope black plugs are definitely a sign of being to rich. When you installed your AFPR did you disconnect the battery? What you need to do is do that to clear the memory on the battery so that it can relearn the fuel curves. If you don't the computer will take much longer to learn. Also have you modifyed your maf yet? That tends to lean out the mixture, as well as exhaust mods. Make sure you also have a clean air filter as that can richen the mixture.

Thanks for the advice. I did remove the battery during the work. I also have removed the screens from the MAF and I am running SLP headers and dynomax exhaust through a Random Tech CAT. I am starting to wonder about the ECM. Maybe the stock chip is going south?

46psi is with vacuum line on or off.ya probably are a bit on the high side-or im assuming this-cant figure the post-what you mean? the regulator has been on for some time or it just got put on or why did you increase the pressure-from what setting previously. you could have ripped the diagfram upon install-raw gas comin at ya-why did you replace all the sensors instead of returning pressure to its earlier no problem setting?

I replaced the stock FPR and the engine has 150K so I replaced all the sensors. Just thought that would be a good idea. I hadnt thought that I may have damaged the diaphram. I may have to check that out.

Any Other thoughs?
Thanks again.

Possibly a misfire on the driver's side causing the O2 sensor to read lean and force rich.
Or a bad O2 sensor.

This is a fallacy that i'd like to start seeing corrected. The ECMs learning process will take the same amount of time whether you reset the battery or not. There is not a special function in the ECM to tell it to learn faster cuz the battery just got disconnected. If you do a major fueling change you might as well reset the battery, since it has to re-learn anyway it might as well start from the base fuel maps, but in practice it doesn't matter. Within 30 seconds of driving in closed loop the BLM will resettle to it's new value either way.

Thanks Guys. I'll check for a misfire and look into the O2 sensor. Just because it is new does not mean it works!

Thanks Again for the help!
