Anyone out there with a 305 TPI (LB9)...
Hey
I was just wondering if there was any 305 TPI guys out there that run low 14s. If u guys run low 14s post ur mods please... Post ur times also even if you dont run 14s.... I have a 305 TPI engine and I am planning on getting my car into low 14s or even high 13s. So I am just looking to see what all you people have done to ur 305s and how u did it. If u have any suggestions for mods please post them.
Thanks alot

I can't tell you my track times as I have not yet been. I have had the car for over 4yrs but something always gets in the way of me going. I had plans to go this summer but now I am out of the country and won't be able to run it. I will keep my eye on yours and see what you can get at the track. Mods are in sig. 3.42 gears on the way

The times in my sig were run on a beat *** clutch, and 2 slightly bad injectors... Had good traction due to the terrible clutch! The new Centerforce is in, and will have some new times in a couple weeks... I think I just inherited some new traction problems with this clutch though.

This time was with Performance Resource shelf chip.Had them burn custom chip & ran almost 1sec SLOWER.They reprogrammed chip hoping to run high 13's w/ it this fri @ Cecil County.

BTW Ed M. and I are in a dog fight to see who gets to 13's first!

As you can see I've only gotten the heavy beast into mid 14s. If your IROC is lighter you might get into low 14s with similar mods and your better cam.
Besides these some valve train and head work should get the job done.

Hey
what do you guys think I will run with SLP or Hooker headers, cat back exhaust and a transgo shift kit. All my info is in my sign.
Thanks

I run 14.8 on my stock 305. I have a 91Z so I have the advantage of the speed density sytem... I recomend you do the conversion if possible. I ran 14.8 with a 2.73 gear posi, K&N's with a guted air box and some dryer ducting to get the cold air up in there, and a hooker 3" cat back exhaust system. Im hoping to get in the mid to low 14's by the end of the summer. I have a set of hedman shorty headers and a 3.42 gear disk brake rear from a 4thgen sitting in my garage waitign to be bolted on. That with some lenum porting Im hoping to see 14 flat.
I went 14.5's @ 95mph with LT headers, Cai, ported plenum, siamesed base, a 210/216 .440/.454 comp cam, stock stall, an open 3.23 rear/ and a crappy tranny.
I decided to go fast so i pulled it all out for my 406

iroc_cragg, I run the mixed 1 1/2" & 1 5/8" Edelbrock TES, ceramic coated in/out. This is quite enough for a NOA LB9; Lingenfelter even puts 1 5/8" on his L98 buildups though I would go with 1 3/4" on a L98.
BTW, the TES allow std length spark plugs and MSD wires with no burn problems; plugs are easier to change than with stock manifolds.
