How hard is it to free up a sticking TV valve?
I had my tranny rebuilt about 6 months ago, after doing some wot runs my car started to shift late and hard at times. I tried adjusting and jiggling the tv cable it helped some but its shifting late again. IM almost postive its the common 700r4 stuck TV valve.
Is this something I can tackle myself? Or should I just let a tranny shop do it? I cant take it back because the place that rebuilt it burned up in a fire.
Thanks.

The minimum you need to do is install the Trans-Go Shift Kit Junior. This has the self-cleaning TV valve. I have this in the HD version along with the boost valves and Corvette servo if desired. Let me know?

An easy fix.
I had this problem too.I did what my trans guy said to do.Just take the TV cable loose from the carb or whatever you have. Then just take the cable in your hand and yank back and forth about 10 times.Fixed mine just fine, and it was free.

Which valve is it we're talking about here exactly? The new 'used' tranny i just put in has a tendency to ignore overdrive every now and then when cruising, but usually rememebers if i goose it a little, and then it'll be fine for a while.

Thanks for the replies guys....Yeah I tried that little trick with the cable and thats how i got it to shift (sort of) again. Ed....Thats what made me think it was the TV valve thats hooked to the TB, because playing with the cable got it shifting again.
I have my motor apart right now(Porting my SuperRam runners and intake)so I havent been able to do anything with the tranny. I will try jiggling it when its all back together and see if that doesnt free it up.
IF that doesnt free it up IM buying a good Tranny (Pro built) and installing it myself.

That is fine when it is stuck in the high pressure position. The problem is often what happens is it will stick in the LOW pressure position and NOT delay the shifts, just allow the clutches to slip. Often this just happens momentarily so there is no real clue (unless you have a gauge on it). I have done tons of these where I see clutches burned and I get the VB out and sure enough, the TV Valve is stuck in the low position. The moral of the story is that eventually you have to pay the band! If you fix it in car, before it takes the clutches/band out you can save allot of money.

So exactly what is involved in swapping this, if you don't mind sharing. Seems like worthwhile info for the board, and from past experience looking tranny stuff up can be tough.
It involves removing the VB and for other changes in the tranny you will need to take the Servo out along with the Pressure Regulator lineup. I would get the ATSG manual if you are going to use the JR SK since it is not meant for beginners and as such does not go into great detail. The Reprogramming Kit has more detailed instructions but is more expensive too. However most people would probably like the former shifts that it provides and the greater control of shifting.
