ive got problems withthe good 'ol (?) 9-bolt...

i need help baaad!!! i have the Borg-Warner 9-bolt rear end in my Formula and i CANNOT make the diff cover seal!!!! i originally tried to fix a simple little leak it had when i bought the car, when i fixed it it seemed to hold for a while, then when i checked it out it turns out that the bolts had backed out, so i tightened them and refilled it. then 2 days ago i noticed that it was leaking yet again. so i got the gasket and took it all apart, put the high tack stuff on it this time to try to get a better seal, drove about half way to a friend's house, stopped at a gas station and i'll be damned if it wasn't leaking AGAIN!!! this is turning into a nightmare for me people! so i drove home, put it back on jackstands, tore it apart yet again, put insta-gasket on it (part stores were closed, used Mekanica Formula RS [anyone familiar with this?] ) let it sit just as instructions said and this morning i go out to the garage and the **** STILL LEAKS!!! WTF AM I GONNA DO NOW!!! i am going crazy trying to fix this persistant problem, do i need to remove the sway bar to get a better angle to make it seal? i think my pan may be warped, i thought this earlier in the adventure so i put it on the garage floor and tried to tap it straight with a hammer, all i accomplished was knocking some of the lip that curls out flat. now im confused, what should i do now? and where do i find a new rear diff cover, www.9bolt.com dont seem to have one or at least i didn't see it

The only things that come to mind are:
1) Torque the bolts to 20 ft-lbs - that's what my Chilton manual says.
2) Make sure you tighten the bolts from the center out, alternating sides (like how you tighen wheel lugs)

Other than than, I'm stumped.

thanks man, i listened to a friend who said he'd done it before. i didn't ask him, but he heard of what i was going to do and said to MAKE SURE i did the following:

A) TORQUE THE FU(K OUTTA THE BOLTS (mistake #1)
B) put RTV on the gasket (mistake #2)

listenin to him (mistake #3) so now, unless i did it right this time, i will do it the proper way, man i feel like the world's biggest jack@$$!!! my poor Formula!!!

Nope, but I'm working on an aluminum girdle with bearing cap supports now. Was hoping to have it available already, but other business issues took precedence. It will be later this summer though.

Miles, I saw rear diff cover plugs and gaskets, but no diff covers themselves. Did I overlook them too?

Also, would you have any input on this backing plate topic?

Sorry, my bad I didn't catch that it was just a cover you were looking for. The aluminum ones should be available sometime soon (this summer). I do have a few used factory covers, but there are $45 each.
