My Ongoing Tranny Problems.

I have had my 89RS + 700R4 drivetrain for 2 years. and it's had a transmission burn out every year. So now im on my second tranny.

I dont have them rebuilt, just buy a (new to me) tranny from a boneyard.

Starts out one random day, it just starts slipping at high rpms. Then month or so later, starts slipping in mid range but will only shift when i let off the gas and let it "pop" in gear. Sounds bad. Then maybe oh 25 or so times it randomly doing this it "pops" one last time and poof no drive gear.

It just today did the first high speed slip. (after timing chain).

So what would cause this? its happening for the third time, and the 4th total, (owner before me).

tomm i will check fluid level and try to adjust trans cable (soon as i find out how).

Improper TV cable adjustment or a boneyard trans that's seen better days. If you can afford it visit www.pro-built.net

Push in the button on the adjuster and let it move back all the way. Then simply push the gas pedal all the way to the floor and you shoud hear some clicks.

I did that today but no clicks were heard did it two times as well. Could my TV cable be bad? Also that screw that holds that bracket out i fooled with it, then the slip happened how can i adjust that screw? shown here in red. That might be the problem or both.

Maybe you're not connecting the TV cable properly to that little hook near the pan on the trans? Do you know what I'm talking about? It's kind of a pain in the *** so I'm sure you'd remember doing it.
Yeah, the TV cable could be bad if it's seized up or kinked inside. Knida doubt it though.
Not sure about that screw. Maybe someone else can help you with that.

Who put all these transmissions in your car? Was it you? If it was you and you don't know what I'm talking about it's probably not hooked up right.

There's nothing to adjust down there, just something to hook up.

Then it should be hooked up right. I can't think of anything else right now. I'm sleep deprived and must go to bed.
