I had a local salvage yard do a search and found one that way. Yes, they are hard to find. It took about 2 weeks to hear back from him, but I got the tranny, bellhousing, clutch master cylinder, slavecylinder, flywheel, and misc. bolts for $1050 which I thought was pretty good. There is a company in Phoenix, Az that has reman units for like 1650 and no core is required. Ebay is good also but beware of items getting pulled. I had hi bid on a complete setup and someone e-mailed him and he pulled the bid and sold to the other person. But keep looking. They are out there. Hope this helps.

They are pretty pricey! The whole swap for an auto car would be close to $3000. That is with every single part from the donor car. I did not want to do it due to the fact that it costed a lot and for future plans the six speed wouldn't hold up too well! It would be nice though. Make sure you get a guarantee from the person you buy it from. good luck

You cant use the LS1 t-56. You need one from 93-97.

My swap was about $1800, and that was with mostly new parts. Look around, I got my tansmission, cluth, and bellhousing for $850.

That is unheard of. I found a guy that would give me everything needed from the car for 1400. That included tranny, bellhousing, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, driveshaft, pedals, master/slave cylinder assembly, shifter + ****, torque arm, and the vehicle speed sensor. SO I call my dad to ask if I can buy, it, and he will not let me. His reason is I need to wait until I can drive the car legally. I am soooooooo f pissed. The total cost for my swamp would be 2,335.98 without the cost of shipping. The extra things I need are a pre 85 flywheel that will work with a T-56, Spohn Crossmember, and a Custom chip which are included in the price.

The swamp is alot harder with an early third gen and obviously harder with an auto.
