Need a 3000 RPM stall, but don't want to lose streetability

Well, with my new engine combo, I figure I need about a 3000 RPM stall speed converter. What brand of converter can I get so that I don't loose streetability and so that my trans (700R4) doesn't burn up going down the highway?? Any suggestions?? Thanks.

Make sure you get a lock-up converter. I have a Hughes 2800 lockup converter and it runs fine on the street. The lockup is the key to streetability with a higher stall. It will usually set you back 4-6 bills for a decent one. Worth every penny.

Coan built me a 3600 stall lockup convertor. I haven't seen too much loss in streetability. A little more heat, but the cooling system has been able to handle it.

LikeI said HUGHES is a good brand. A lot of people here on the board use VIGILANTE converters and I have heard nothing but good things about them. Do a search and see what you can find. One thing though, dont skimp on a converter. An expensive converter is expensive for a reason -because it will live a long and happy life in a seriously demanding environment. Unless you like pulling your trans every few months.

Is the Vigilante really worth the extra money over the ACT and Contennental converters?? Thanks again.

Yank, Vigilante, Pro-Torque to name a few.
I run a Yank 3200, and you can't tell its there.
Well OK, you can really tell it there but it is extremely streetable.
Higher end converters will be tighter and create less heat, even with high stalls when compared to the low buck brands.
