torque arm mount, where?

ok i just bought my 90 camaro rs and the tranny is out. this whole torque arm thing is new to me cause for 6 yrs. all i've worked on were 2 68 camaros. soo ... what does the front of the torque arm mount to? the tranny or a seperate mount that hooks to the tranny mount. also i bought a 700R4 that i plan on useing and there are no holes for a torque bar if thats where it mounts. also putting this behind the (getting built) 383 stroker. should be a reallllll mean 5.0 killin machine
thanx for the help

you need to swap on an 82-up camaro firebird 700r4 tailshaft housing, hey you are close to me over there, maybe when i get this 700r4 swapped out for my th350 and swap out the 305 for the 350 i have we can go stomp on 5.0L's together

what gears you got in rear ? 3.23 here

good luck

Click on the link below and it should lead you to a tech article on how to R&R the speedometer gear.

http://www.sethirdgen.org/vss.htm

The first picture of the back of the transmission shows you what the torque arm mount looks like and it's location. In that pic, it is to the left of the output shaft. It is what looks like a 3.

In the third picture, the hand is grabbing the torque arm mount.

There are also two types of torque arms. They look like 3's and E's.

The mount is a clamshell style and bolts to the tailhousing. I would suggest buying a $15 Energy Suspension poly mount for it while you are at it.

Hope this helps,
Jesse
