So do I use the preload plate with my ES poly trans mount?

So do I use the preload plate with my ES poly trans mount?

I have heard a lot of discussion over this but I can't come up with an answer. The directions say it must be used, it is not a spacer, but I know that some people on this board have said that the preload plate causes vibrations. What should I do, I only want to install it one time.

It doesn't seem to be necessary. I don't have mine in, and it works fine.

It sometimes causes vibes by changing the driveshaft angle too much.

It seems to effect some peoples car, and others not so much. When I install for people, I'll use it, and if it starts to vibrate, I'll take it out.

I used the preload plate too, didn't notice any extra vibrations. The car probably vibrates more from the exhaust or the potholes in the road than a trans mount could ever do.

Mine is in and I have no problems with it at all.

Your only talking at most 1/4* in pinion difference There is no way that will matter causing sudden harsh harmonic vibrations for the little 1/8" spacer.

What happens is when the plate is clamped down against the mount, it makes for an almost solid mount, thus causing more drivetrain vibration to be present in the cockpit. Without its use will cause to much flex and premature failure because there are contact points inside the urethane that need to make contact with the plate when great force is applied (Torque). Under this condition it acts just as a solid mount would, but is less forgiving when driven calm. Its more noisey thatn the stock, but give more comfort than the solid under hard conditions. Put the plate in as it was designed.

Any vibrations you are feeling only ocationally is most likely due to a wornout torque arm bushing thrusting up and down. I would suggest replacing that also.
