will rear axles fit in S10

will a 89 rs rear end fit in a '97 S10 2WD extra cab with the 4.3L Vortec and Automatic.

I really don't know but I doubt it. The later axles are prolly a little longer and prolly have 2 more splines, but don't quote me

Axle/Gears: Ford 9"/31 spline spool/4.86
97 will have 28 splines. The s-10 axles are a different length. The differential is different since the truck uses leaf springs.

third gen are coil panhard bar rear susp and S-109 are leaf type, not similar in any possible way at all,

oh, so only the gears out of a s10 are swapable with our cars. i was under the impression the whole rear end was.

What part of that didn't you understand the first time? You might as well ask if a mid 80's Monte Carlo 7.5" will fit. The only factory direct bolt-in diff for a third gen is out of another third gen.
