HELP ! How do you take off...

trying to install my new hurst shifter and can't seem to get the shift **** off or the shifter boot. what's the trick on these? the **** won't seem to screw off...

also, i can see how the console unscrews (2 screws in back and 1 in the middle) but what is the easiest way to get if over the e-brake? i've already taken off the e-brake handle piece (plastic "cover") but it looks like i'll have to slide the console forward about 4 or 5" to get it off but there is no room. ???

any help would be much appreciated!!!

This I think I can answer correcty...

The shift **** does screw out counter clock wise, just ask someone stronger than you to try to take it out (that's what I did). As for the e-brake, I pulled the ebrake as far as I could (I would say about a 70*-80* angle) while pressing the "button".

Hope it helps...

Thanks. Got both off with no problem. I knew I could probably muscle the shift **** off but did not want to bend anything in the process. Experience has taught me to ask when in doubt !
