Ok... 147K hard miles... I don't think the heads have ever been off... hell, I just took the original water pump and shocks off...

I have this miss... have had this miss.. and it pisses me off!!! So today I started trouble shooting... I couldn't locate an exhaust leak like I thought it was... on a hunch I pulled the PCV... smoke... not alot, but there... pulled dipstick, no smoke... ok rings are good, but that must mean I have a shot valve somewhere...

But!

I could see that the smoke was coming up in bursts... right along with some ticking I've been having (I thought it was injectors pulsing)... so my thought it a stuck lifter, bent pushrod or a shot valve seat.

And, I can bet I know how it happend... A while ago I had a problem with an injector not pulsing.. since been replaced (worst $128 I ever spent)... But I'll bet that incredibly lean dry cylinder burned the valves up...

Would that do it? Or should I go back to looking for an exhaust leak?

The only time I had do deal with a burnt valve was on my 63 studie, had black smoke pulsing out of the tail pipe. do you have this, or is it just coming out the pcv hole?
yeah, a lean condition could have burnt it.

hopefully you will not have to pull a head, I just finished two & it sucks!

Nope, no black smoke...

I suppose it's the seals just beginning to go...

I no longer think it's a big problem like this, because if I reset my computer it'll idle fine for a little while longer than it usually does.

My bet is that a new CTS, O2, IAC, ignition coil, and TPS will solve all my problems...
