Transmission problem?

car: camaro RS 91 TBI 305

Well just since about a week and a half ago, my transmission has started doing wierd things (or as far as I can tell its the tranni)

When in town I keep it in 3rd (its an automatic) and when I bought it it shifted nice and smooth, and ran fine. Now when hitting the gas (not hard just getting speed) it kinda takes a little longer to get into gear, then gets in and kicks a little harder then it used to. The other problem it has is when im on a straight road, and going at a constant speed and I keep the gas in the same spot, the car starts shuttering. I hope to ***_ that it isn't a bad tranny cause I can't afford that.......could it just really really need a tranny fluid change? or maybe a new TC???

PLEASE someone help me! thanks!

P.S. can anyone tell me the model of the tranny on this car?

thanks!

Thats just my guess because you said its shuddering, it would shift funny because the engine is not giving it enough power to shift as fast. Just speculation, where is everyone else on this subject?

i don't know....seems dead here......is this car driven by vaccum for shifting or is it electronic? I asked someon I know thats a mechanic (or was) and he said that it probably more then likely just needs a fluid change! Hopefully thats all it is!

thanks

well the shuddering problem I've been told is normal with these cars, and its just trying to switch between gears cause it doesn't know which one to be in.

the tranny still shifts funny and it started gettin worse last night so you think a fluid change would fix it? if not how much does a tranny for a camaro cost these days?

thanks!

If you want to find out if its the lockup torque converter causing the problem, go to where it shudders and touch the brake pedal just enough to make the brake lights come on and this will disengage the TC clutch and if it stops shuddering it is most likely be the TC clutch is going away, if it has no effect on the shuddering, then the problem lies elsewhere.
