t-5 speedo gears

ok i have searched and read all the info i could find about this subject and i am still unclear on which gears i need.

My car came from the factory with the g92 option, 305 tpi 5spd with 9-bolt 3.45`s, my current speedo gears are a purple 7-tooth drive gear, and a light blue 20 tooth driven gear. I currently have a 3.23 10-bolt installed and i would like the speedo to work correctly. Which drive/driven gears do i need for 3.23 gears? I also have a red 21 tooth driven gear from an old 84 z28 t-5 will this be of any use?

In the future i will be putting 3.73`s in and i will need the correct speedo gears for this setup as well, can someone please tell me what gears i need, part numbers etc, for these 2 combos

I am running a 245/50/16 tire.

thanks in advance

Matt

From: pgh,pa,
ok i just checked out the calculator on Hanlon Motorsports site, and according to it i need:

3.23 : 7 tooth / 16 tooth
3.73 : 7 tooth / 21 tooth

so if this is correct, i already have the correct speedo gears for the 3.73s and all i need to locate is a 16 tooth gear. does anyone know the part number for this?

From: pgh,pa,
ok in a few other posts i have read, a few people have stated that there cars with factory 3.42 gears came with a purple 7 tooth drive/ and a white 19 tooth driven gear, however RB83L69 is saying that this combo will work for my 3.23 gears, how is this possible? also from what i have read an 18 tooth gear would be a better one to get, does anyone know the part number for the 18 tooth driven gear?

thanks
Matt

My car has 3.23's and I just swapped a T5 in. I COULD NOT find any car that used a 5-speed/3.23 combo to get speedo gears from. What I ended up doing was installing 3.08 speedo gears. Now my speedo reads a bit faster but not much. When I'm going 28mph, my speedo reads 30 mph. I have the 3.08 gear info if you want it.........

I don't have the PN's but I do have the colors:

3.08 Gears for T5 only---

-DRIVE: RED w/ 9 teeth
-DRIVEN: GRAY w/ 22 teeth

Just tell the GM parts counter this info. The parts catalog lists all the gear colors and tooth counts for easy ID.
