looking for comments on Pro-Built transmissions
I'm looking at either rebuilding my trans myself or skiping the hassel and having someone else do it. I'm curious how good are Pro-built any complaints?? I'm mainly looking at their street/strip setup how would this be for a daily driver?

Give me a few weeks and I will be able to tell you. I will be ordering one next. I have heard nothing but good things about Pro-Built. I have talked to him a few times on the phone and he was a great deal of help. If his transmissions are half as good as his customer support I will be happy.

Best decision you'll ever make. They built a 700r4 with a vigilante converter for me. Awesome combination and Dana stands by his work.
I'm mechanically inclined but I personally wouldn't attempt to rebuild a "performance" 700r4. I have seen too many people mess them up that are supposedly certified or so called experts int the field.
Dana has done a lot of 700r4 rebuilds for people on this board and always with positive feedback.

hey 87iroc350,
exactly what trans did you purchase from them, was it the Street/strip? And what stall speed did you go with? Is this a daily driven car? How much was the trans including the torq converter?

I've never heard anything but good about their transmissions. Check out this post for some feedback on the guy.

Another sastisfied customer here. This is my 3rd 700R4 and the ProBuilt is by far the best one.
The street/strip is what I have and it's working great on my daily driver.

Yes, I got the strip/street and a 2800 stall vigilante.
The vigilante is probably one the best mods I have done.... (it retains your lockup for better gas mileage in addtion to kicking ***). I can't remember the price for the vigilante but I thought it was around $600-700. Not to cheap but you get what you pay for. It was worth the $$
Dana will talk with you and build the tranny the way you want it.
The same for the vigilante it is made for your application....so you will need to provide all kinds of specs on your cam, tire size, gear ratio....etc.
After I got my tranny and drove it a while it had a problem with it shifting. Spoke with Dana he stood by his work and provided suggestions. He helped me find a reputable tranny shop in the area to take a look at it.
It ended up that the govenor was sticking which is very minor. (Dana told me it sounded like the govenor was sticking). Anyway to make a long story short replaced the govenor. Haven't had a problem since and I am very happy with it. Everyday driving you really can't tell the stall is there and it is extremely streetable..
I also have a 67 camaro that I want to drop in a auto tranny with overdrive and I will definitely be going back for Probuilt to build it for me when I'm ready.

Save yourself the headachs and get your tranny from Dana. I went through a B&M and a TCI before I found out about Pro-Built. Bought one of Dana's trannys with the ACT converter and have not had another single problem. Dana's customer service is second to none, he spends alot of time with each customer to make sure your getting what you want and the tranny will perform exactly like you want it to. I wish that everybody in the performance parts world would give me the kind of customer service that I got form Pro-Built, it sure would make life alot easier.

Dana is very well versed with these transmissions. Its one thing to know how to take a 700R-4 apart and put it back together, but Dana knows these transmissions like the back of his hand, and its that kind of knowledge that seperates an "OK" transmission from a "GREAT" transmission.
I'm very proficient on the 700R-4, but even I get stumped once in a while, and Dana is who I call, so that should tell you something
