Can I fit a 10 bolt Posi from a Turbo Trans Am

into a 305 auto ?

The gears on this are 3.0x with drums from a 1980 Turbo trans Am, is this a straight swap onto my '89 Camaro?

Thanks

I'm assuming that I'll swap the whole rear axel, or can I just swap the gears/posi?

No, and no.

None of it at all will interchange. It's all completely different.

That's sorted that one out then. Guess I'll have to swap my washer bottle this weekend instead...No, really.

Yes any 9 or 10 bolt from any 3rd gen will swap into any other thirdgen. If the brakes are different you may need to change a few things like prop valve.

I am almost positive that the Turbo Trans Am never came with a 10-bolt. I am pretty sure it came with a 9-bolt.

The rearend from an 80 turbo-ta should be 8.5/10 bolt[I have one from an 81 w/3.08,disc posi] it is a much stonger rear than a 7.5/7.625 that came in 82 -up f bodies, there was a nine bolt available but parts are exspensive. If the width is right, you can make anything fit anything by moving the spring hangers or adapting if going from coils to leafs or vice - versa.

Sure, with enough money and fabrication skills, anything is possible, but he asked if it was a "direct swap", which it is not.
