LSD vs. Posi?

I'm lookin for a diff. that would let me corner well, but will completly lock the rear together if I have the pedal down with no problemb, 'cause I drift (well I try anyway...), and someone said that a Posi won't lock up if your turning at all, and all the Japaneese drifters use LSDs. Anyone know any better?

For your info a "POSI" is a Limited Slip. GM's name for its Limited Slip or Posi-Trac Rear. Also it was not designed for what you are attempting to do. I think you seen to many Movies like Jackass and Dumb & Dumber .

POSI, from the early days it was called positive traction, then positraction, now commonly called posi. Anyway, it's just a name for Limited slip.

Actualy a posi is different than an LSD. They do the same thing, but in a slightly different way. I've just never driven a car with a posi and was wondering if it would lock it up or if I needed a real LSD. I don't know what they did on jackass, but I'm sure it wasn't drifting...
this is drifting...

Nope, just a name commonly used to describe limited slip. Limited slip comes in many different varities: cone type clutch, disk type clutches, 'torsen' clutchless, etc.... Posi is just the common name that 'stuck' over the years to describe a car that applies power to both rear wheels via some type of limited slip. Other options is a locker(locks or unlocks the rear wheels--no in-between) or a spool(both tires spin at the same speed at all times), or an open rear(the tire with the least traction gets all the power).

They do the same thing, but in a slightly different way.
Please explain...my guess is that your are talking about the different types of posi/LSD.
