transmission gear belts HELP!!!!!

i don't know what is wrong with the transmission. it is like 2nd and 3rd is just not there it won't go above 45 mph and i have put all kinds of fluids and cleaners but nothing is happening to it to fix it i need help it is a 87 ta transmission and i don't know if it is the fact that i have a afert stock engine v8 or what. if you have any answers to my problem let me know thanks.

is it an auto? if it is it should be a 700r4

yeah it is an auto and i really don't know what to do with it or if i should get it rebuilt or get a new one

What color is the trans fluid? does it smell burnt? did you notice anything leading up to this problem or did it just stop shifting one day when ya went to drive it? if you have/plan any sort of major mods you may want to consider switching to a th-350 or a 400 anyway.. the 700's arnt the strongest trannys known to man.....

have you checked the TV cable to make sure its properly adjusted?

do a search on 'TV cable adjustment'. There are lots of threads on how to adjust it. Theres a good pic of what the tv cable and racheting mechanism looks like in the tech articles, but the adjustment method there is incorrect.

i would look elsewhere.. a tv cable is very unlikely as your trans would still be able to shift even if it wasnt hooked up.
