what do the V6s and V8s have in common?

what do the V6s and V8s have in common?
reason i ask is this:

i was at several wrecking yards today looking for somthing, but i cant resist looking in every 3rdgen i come across.

i noticed that out of all the 3rdgens i see the V6 ones are almost untouched in the drivetrain..

i have a V8 but im wondering:

i know the bell housing is diffrent, but is the manual tranny the same?
are the clutch/brake pedals the same as the V8 pedals?

and non drivetrain related:

will a AC compressor from a V6 hook up to my V8s brackets?

clutch/brake pedals the same.

Rear end, the same although V6's usually didn't get any of the good options

Tranny's different, although some reported getting the T5 to work somehow with a V8.

Compressor...I dont' think so, but I've been wrong twice before.

Hey Ovrclck350... fooling people into clicking on your link so you can get more "thugs" is pretty stupid. It's no better then good old misleading spam techniques. I would definately not expect this from a moderator.

While your rant has no non-tech value, I'll respond.

You're the one who clicked, don't blame me for you curiousity getting the best of you. If I had REALLY wanted to be tricky, I'd have renamed the link to "Pics of my Car" or something. I have nothing to hide though.

And since when does Moderator mean that I'm different than anyone else? Basically all Moderator means is that in my forum I can lock threads and ban troublemakers. Nothing special.

why bitch about it here? you clicked it, you should have known when something says "click here" that it might not be a good idea to click it, especially if you're at work.

anyway... travis.... the rear axles are the same, but most v6 rears came with drums... you can usually find a 3.42 rear if it's a v6/5 speed.

transmissions, v6 auto can't be used because of the bolt pattern of the case being different. you can use a v6 t5, but you'll need a clutch disc from a v6, as the splines are different. the v6 clutch disc is about 9.5" as opposed to the 10.5" clutch that the v8 trannies got.

the v6 t5 will physically bolt up, but i just don't like the idea of running that small of a clutch on a v8. i have this set up in my red camaro, and i hate it. when i'm able to get another transmission setup, i'm thinking a g-force or a tremec.

v6 cars.

people dont care to strip them in the yards.

therefore, they are in decient shape.

i want to do a manual conversion on my vert.

i wanted to know if i could take the tranny from the v6s and have it work.

however, it wont with the way i drive, i would fry the v6 clutch behind the v8.

also, im going to swipe a v6 air compressor since im a cheap bastard and they're only $5

Why bitch about it ? Because it's ****ing stupid! Especially when a moderator does it. A moderator who's supposed to set an example for all other users. Would you like it if I got on a bunch of sites and started putting ads in my signature for you to click on so you can make me money ? You'd probably be pissed off too. But nooooo, you have to take his side, because you ****** moderators have to side with each other, even when you KNOW what he's doing is wrong.

The 82-83 4 speeds had a course splined clutch just like the v6 t-5's but it was the 10.5" could use yhe clutch/pressure plate specified for an 82-83 4speed and ya should be all set.

you don't get it, do you? about the only thing we're here to do is make sure the board is run smoothly.

nope. wouldn't bother me one bit. because i know better than to click a link that just says "click here"

of course i'm taking his side. why the hell did you bring this up in a technical thread? you could have asked him about it in an email or a private message.

Skatepunk60, will it fit the shaft? It may be worth trying if you can get the disc its self just to mess around with. you could buy v6 t-5s and just have fun beating the hell out of them with out any worries.
