T-5 to TH350 swap

I am new to this site and I am sure this question has been asked hundreds of times. I am planning on removing my manual transmisson and installing a TH350. What parts will I need for this change out. This will be a drag car only (future nhra stock eliminator) and any help will be greatly appricated. Also it will have a slightly modified carb. 305 motor.

Thanks, for your help

First off you need about a 10" by 12" piece of metal to cover the shifter hole so have something to mount the shifter to. The the rest you till need aside from cables is the cross member and driveshaft from a 200C car (82-83 auto).

A longer torque arm, and the means to mount it, unless you are modifying the way the rear is kept from twisting (not even sure that's legal in Stock).

You also need to carefully remove all of the T5 stuff, not cutting or breaking anything, so you can ship it all to me...

Thanks for the info (very helpful). 89RsPower and Five7kid maybe we can work on those request. The car is not home yet, (just got rid of a 69 firebird Sat. and the wife said I can't bring the 87 firebird home until after the 4th of July picnic). I think sometime in next 2 weeks all the t-5 stuff will be out and I will let you guys know. Also I guess I am gonna need the TH-350 changeover kit in the Jegs catolog also.

Thanks, I knew they had helpful people on this site.

Maybe you did not read my post correctly. I said this is gonna be a stock eliminator car (J/Stock automatic maybe). Unless you are gonna donate $4,000 for a aftermarket manual transmission and clutch setup(because no one uses a stock t-5 transmission in this class that I know of) then don't worry about it. Unless that is if you can run consistant 1/4 mile times all day with a t-5 then you can e-mail me the your book.

Thanks

lol, that's funny..that's just begging for a response, so I'm gonna bite

What if he's gonna mod his engine and go for some real power...we ALL KNOW those T5's take power oh so well I'd take a well built auto with a manual valve body over a stick ANYDAY of the week..it's more consistant at the track..now my reasons for going with an auto are different..my car would run much slower with a stick(waiting for the ri<x>cer comments about how sticks are faster to start flying). It's his car..let him do what he wants and when it's all said and done his built th350 will last longer and perform better than the T5...
