could this be a bad tq converter.
hey i have an 89 iroc with a 700r4. the car kinda winds and vibrates the car a very litle in park. i put the car in drive and it becomes alot worse. the car is even more annoying. the tranny is all orginal exepct for an addition of a tranny cooler and an i change the fluid every 20k. the car also vibrates while the motor is in upper rpm's and has a tendecny to over red line. like 2-300 past its shift piont. its kinda like the car shifts but the motor doesn't really drop in rpms. but when she shifts they are still as firm as they have allways been and thats why i'm thinking its the tq converter.

It's possible! Anything is but hopefully someone chimes in here. I never knew anyone who had one "go bad" over time, just instances where it REALLY broke itself from a hard acceleration spike..hehe

A few months ago I had a rebuilt TH350 installed with a new 2200 stall. The converter was bad and had to be replaced along with everything else in the tranny.
It was vibrating a lot and would als vibrate when the car was in neutral as well.
The shop did not want to believe there was a problem but eventually after disconnecting the converter and starting the car it became evident that converter was f'cked.

reason why i asked if it was a kink in the flywheel is because it got bent somehow and caused a horrible vibration all the time for me and had to replace.
