Anyone with an 82 4spd?

Thanks for looking, I am in desparate need of some pictures or tech data on the clutch linkage for my 82 Z28. It has the 4spd manual. If you can take a pic and post it here I would be forever in your debt. Thanks in advance.

i have a 82 Z witha 4 speed

i'll see if i can't take some picures when i got off of work.

which part of it do you need to see, i could put it all together with my eyes closed i've had to do it so many times.

i can probably explain how it goes together if you ask.

i have a hurst shifter in there now, so the exact angles of the shift rods may be different, but its the same setup.

here are some pics that should help for right now

Thanks for the reply. What I need is the clutch mechanism itself from the clutch fork to the fire wall. I think I have everything, but I dont know. Again thank you so much.

I'll try and explain it. From front to back. First theres a Z-bar which is mounted to the frame under the brake booster. It connects to the linkage from the pedal. The Z-bar pivats off a Ball joint connected to the side of the engine block. After that there is a threaded rod ( clutch adjustment ) which connects the Z-bar to the clutch fork in the bellhousing. There is also a spring which goes from the Z-bar to the clutch fork. This spring holds in the threaded rod. Hope this helps. Do you have all these parts?

Looks like Ihave everything except the spring. Would I be able to get that from GM? Thank you so much. The whole bolts to the engine thing cleared up a lot of gray area.

You might be able to get the spring from the dealer. I would just get a spring from your local parts store for 3 bucks. Im not exactly sure how long it is but I think its around 4 inches.

I have an 83 (same mechanical linkage) and never used the spring.

It depends on how you have your clutch adjusted. If you have it so the clutch engages near the top of the pedal, the adjusting rod will be tight without any free play. If you want your clutch to engage near the floor theres alot more play in the rod. Its a good idea to have the spring just to be safe, cause if you loose that rod in traffic you'd be f*&^%$%.

I think I will get the spring. Are there any brackets that hold the spring on?

No brackets. I 'm pretty sure it just hooks from the Z-bar to the clutch fork.

Is the '83 5 speed linkage the same as the T10 linkage?

BTW... i've lost my linkage in traffic (Z-bar snapped).. its not so bad if you know how to shift w/o the clutch. I got pretty good at it

Ok, Now that every thing is in, should the pushrod be all the way out? or should it be backed off a little? I adjusted the pushrod so that there is no play between the fork and the linkage, but this also leaves me no room to adjust it out later if need be. Is this right or will it cause the clutch to slip? Thanks in advance.
