Me thinks my new car has a tranny prob.
Just got a 90iroc, 350tpi/auto...anyways like when I punch it and its in first gear at about 4k rpms the car will almost act like its bouncing off a rev limiter which its not, then I have to let off the gas before it will shift. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to why it would do this, I will probably get a race spec tranny built for it but its probably going to be 6mths or so before I can afford it.

you may just need to adjust the tv valve, if it out of adjustment it will never shift right and will eventualy cause failure. if thats not it, then its probably about to go.

Tv Valve
Well I am not a transmission expert but have you checked the fluids to make sure you aren't a quart short and that the fluid is still red and doesn't smell burnt? It may be the case where the tv cable is out of adjustment but usually when thats the case, it will slip before disengaging into the 2-4 band. If its only in first gear as well you may have some valves sticking in the body of the transmission. A tv valve in my mind would cause it in every shift up.

hmm well the tranny fluid is good and looks really clean. And to be honest with you it may do it in all gears, I know when I put it in reverse it slips a lil before it engages, I just got the car and Im not getting tags/insurance til friday so I havent really had the chance to see what it does in all gears.

You say it slips in reverse too?? That tranny is on its way out the back door of your garage! haha. I am curious to ask how many miles are on it?? If it slips and doesn't catch going into other gears that sounds like worn clutch plates. But the whole thing would have to be rebuilt as I am sure you well know.

Mine did the same thing only it happened on the 3-2 downshift/passing gear. When it tried to get to 2nd and catch, it vibrated the whole car like a mother and wouldn't shift.
4,000 miles later, the trans slips all the time, dead trans.
