I made it to the track tonight. I do a nice little burn out, stage and go. Hook up pretty good, left the LS1 Z28 in my rear view mirror. Anyways, go to shift into second, and miss or so I think. Try again, no luck, but the lovely sound of grinding was there. Finally muscled it in and went. Try to shift into third, and the same grinding noise. Needless to say, I stopped trying, and watched as the Z flew past me, and I roll across the line at 16.14 @61.6mph.

When the engine is off, I can move the shifter into every gear and actually feel it engage. However, when the engine is running, it feels like I am trying to power shift, even though the clutch pedal is fully pressed. It does this in every gear including reverse, actually I can't even get it into reverse when it's running.
However, when it is in gear, and I have the clutch pedal fully pushed in, the car sits still. When I let off the clutch, it seems to engage alright and catches. I am lost.

Any ideas?

I wouldn't think it's the syncros, unless all of them went bad at the exact same time. I haven't checked the tranny fluid lately, but there are no signs of leaks or have there ever, and it was changed maybe 5,000miles ago, at which time the old fluid was still a beautiful red. It feels like the master cylinder is working ok.
Please tell me it's just something like the throwout bearing or something..... and if you guys think it is the tranny, then a good rebuild kit to go with, or maybe even a good aftermarket unit to replace the t-56 with.

Thank you very much for your help

I had my car do that at the track after a burnout. I got the clutch REAL hot, it started slipping during the burnout, and then I could not get it to shift out of N. I finally got it to...made the run with no probs..my 12.77 actually. Well...a few weeks later I was trying ot take a friend for a spin and the thing did it again, 3 times in row. It got so bad I could not even start the car in gear, it would pop right out. Ended up being the clutch disk came apart, a spring and some other pieces blew out. I would say that it sounds like the clutch is going to me, maybe like mine.

I'll second that. Your clutch isn't releasing, because some thing is probably broken on the disk.

That is not what I wanted to hear......

I looked at it today, and it is still in the same condition. But my master cylinder leaked all of it's fluid. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is only that, being as the car is an hour away and can't change the clutch myself, I'm hoping I'll only have to go with a new slave/master cylinder assembly-and keep the labor down. I'll let ya guys know what the problem is when I get it fixed. Thank you for the help.
