Is this an easy FIX??

I was putting on the sending unit for the Autometer electric speedo when all of a sudden my takeoff for the speedometer on my trans broke off! It was not even put on there all the way. I was not done screwing it on and the casing with the threads on it broke right off of the trans. Now, is this going to cost me a new trans, or would it be fixable? Has anyone ever seen this before? It is a 700r4. Please, any help would be great. thanks

Write down the numbers which are cast on the face of the
adapter and call a local tranny shop. They probably have a used one or can order one for you. You might have to remove the driveshaft and tailhousing to get the old one out of the housing if there is a lot of corrosion around the adapter.

Is this the part that broke? If so, it is between $30-$60 for a new one. Don't forget a new O ring for it and a new seal for the speedo gear. you can buy them here http://www.transmissioncenter.net/sp...n_______va.htm

I just had exactly the same problem, seems the inside diameter of the Autometer sender is just slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the cable hook-up.
How did you work around this problem?

LOL, my money pit is still sitting in the driveway! The motor runs excellent, but the car does not move. I have not seriously worked on it in weeks. Before I drive it I need to hook up my guages and shifter. Thats pretty much it. Call it laziness, call it being too damn busy with a ft job, school since Jan. and a ft girlfriend. Not to mention everytime I have gone out there, I am either missing a part, or something will break or not work. I plan on getting it back to the shop who did my trans. Its a few miles from here, and from what I can tell the trans does not leak anymore. good luck
