I'm using the Hays 10-530 Flywheel in my 92 RS.
I've actually got a couple of them.
It is 153 teeth like RB83L69 said.
Weighs about twice as much as the stocker, but won't warp as easily.
490-10-530 at Jegs.

OK... I have a very similar question... I had posted asking about a flywheel too, and was told I need an externally balanced flywheel for a '90 350 and 1 pc rms and also if it was for a 1 pc rms it would work no matter the details. Now however, I find that they make both internal AND exterior balanced flywheels. I believe in Jeg's it says the Hays is Ext. balanced?? I found a flywheel in Year One catalog for $103.00 part # FW425 and says "1986 and later small block with 1-piece rear main seal" but is listed under a heading of "Internally Balanced Flywheels" HELP!!!!!
I am SO confused!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only 86-up motors from GM are the 305 & 350 (Gen 1 SBCs I'm talking about here) which are internally balanced. There is enough space inside the block, between the bottom of the pistons when they're at BDC and the axis of the crank, to completely counterbalance them. They are not "externally balanced" like the 400. However, a small amount of their internal balance used to be on the crank flange where the bell housing bolted to; it partially counterbalanced the rearmost rod journal. Since the 1-piece crank flange is perfectly round, as it must be to have a seal go over it, it lost that little bit of balance, so they applied it to the flywheel.

So in short, all 1-piece motors are "internally balanced"; but a tiny amount of their "internal balance" is mounted on the flywheel. If you have a 1-piece motor with a stock crank, it's internally balanced.

So, what was the deal with the weight on the flexplate that I removed from the car? Was that to make up for the difference in weight between the flexplate and flywheel or something? And also, does this mean that I can order the cheaper (MUCH cheaper) one from year one and not from Jeg's? I know... I am a little slow on this stuff! *LOL*

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

OK. The 1 pc. rear main seal blocks do not have an external crankshaft flange, requiring that additional weight be placed on the flywheel. The balancer on these engine are neutrally balanced. There is a difference between this balance weight and the weight that would be required by an externally balanced 383/400 crank.

Exactly.
So, you can use the Hays 153 tooth 30 lb on a 1 pc rms 305 or 350 (86+).
Or the stocker (i.e. the 16 lb one available from gm or year one)
As long as you're not running a 383/400 crank.
