for those with Pro 5.0 shifers

Has anybody ever noticed an increase in general trans noise after installing a Pro 5.0. Since it's not bushed like the stocker, it could carry vibrations and noise to the interior. I ask this because I rebuilt my T5, installed a Pro 5.0, and a poly trans mount all at the same time, and now the trans is noisy. I'm assuming it is a combination of the stiffer mount and the shifter, but would like to hear from others who have a Por 5.0.

Buy the way, this is NOT a complaint about the shifter, that thing is awsome!

i have a pro 5.0 on my tremec,

its noisy, but the car is loud anyways so it doesnt really bother me.

its just the trade off for having a solid steel connection to the gear box.....its a great shifter

Yes, I agree. I just want to know if others have noiticed the same thing. Otherwise, I f*cked up on the tranny rebuild. Damn that mainshaft endplay.

I don't know about the shifter, but I put the poly mounts on my 89 firebird and it was loud as hell. I got sick of it after about a month (I had an hour to work everyday) and switched back to stock GM mounts.

yes, mine is also a little louder, you can hear the gear whine if you have the radio off, and are not on the throttle. guess i need cut-outs, then i can cover up the trans noise

When you have longtube headers and a healthy cam, you wont be able to hear the tranny (even with the windows UP !!)

I will be installing my PRO 5.0 when I get home from work tonight.

To he with vibration and noise, run a small bead of RTV along the outter edge's of the shifter's base (Bottom side), then bolt it back on. This will also seal a possible tranny fluid leak.

These are the same symptoms I have with mine. I freaked at first and thought that my tranny was shot but I soon found out that it was the norm. There isn't any dampaning parts with this shifter like the stock one had. Therefore more sound and vibration is transfered into the shifter.

Wow!! Maybe my stock shifter was messed up somehow, but I noticed right away that I didn't feel as much vibs with the 5.0.....just the opposite from what I'm reading!!

I love it though! I haven't missed a gear yet! I like how it kinda springs towards 1st-2nd...... helps me to not miss 3rd gear....

I missed third a few times with my stock shifter - and trans.

Sounds horrible when you speed shift from 2nd to 5th!
