Wave plate in foward clutches?

Wave plate in foward clutches?
Do all 700r4s have the wave plate in the foward clutches? I don't see one in mine just a regular flat style plate. I know it was rebuilt before maybe it was left out.

Im pretty sure they all have the wave plate. How did the tranny shift?

Transmission: TH700-R4
It shifted firm but I had the covette servo and .500 boost valve installed. Other than that I never had a problem with it. I did notice that there is an extra steel that came in the new pack its a little thicker than the rest.

If i remember correctly, you have to have something machined then put the extra steel in, I seem to remember dana saying something about that once but can't remember exactly what.

I don't think it would affect how it shifted, the forward clutch pack setup would affect how the car went into gear from park or neutral.

I hope it will be ok then. I seemed fine before with thte same setup. But if its better to have the wave plate installed then I would rather do that.

the wave plate softens the engagement, leave it out if you like the way it feels now. I've seen some transmissions where you had to put your fingers in your ears when you went from park to drive.

I'm more worried about durability. If it engages harder then couldn't it wear quicker?

the clutches usually wear longer with a harder apply. less time slipping into gear.
