Wouldn't you lose a lot of strength by putting a flimsy piece of plastic on your rear end like that.

a flimsy piece of plastic isn't any worse than a stamped steel cover. The covers are normally not a stressed member. Now paint all the gears different colors and put some neon inside!

The covers are a stressed member or else they would not sell reinforced covers for these rear ends. If you read the tech article on building a better 10-bolt one of the things is a reinforced cover.

what about head disapation, i can't imagine a plastic of anysort would be good for disapating heat. maybe if my car was a show car... i'll stick with an alum. gridle though.
Im all for a clear tranny pan..... JUST AS LONG AS IT HAS A DRAIN PLUG!!!!

The stock cover is not a stressed member. The point is by using the plastic cover in place of the stock cover you are not compromising the strength of the differential. using a reinforced cover is an enhancement, not a requirement. The covers are a stressed member or else they would not sell reinforced covers for these rear ends. They make clear valve covers at one time but ran into sealing problems from heat warpage. if the used a metal clamping flange it would have been better.
how about flouresent rocker arms and a black light? then throw a little of that dye they use to find leaks in the oil! We could all eat some acid and watch it all night. We'll see ***.
