t5 front seal leak
t5 front seal leak
how hard is this to fix with the tranny out of the car? I tried to fill it up for the first time and the fluid just went in until it reached the level of the input shaft then started pouring out the front. it is a non world class.

It should be rather easy. there are 4 bolts that hold the input bearing retainer in place. Remove them, take off retainer, make sure not to loose the shims or ding up the race. (The race might not drop out, the shims are behind the race).
Then pry out old seal. Clean up retainer and remove any rtv etc., also from trany face. I use trim adheasive around the outer edge of the seal and press it in place. (you can use like a socket about the same diameter to prevent distorting the seal).
Place shims and race in place re rtv the retainer, and install. Put some lock tite on 4 bolts. Wait a while before refilling, trim adheasive needs to set up a bit.
