slight T56 issue
when my trans is cold, like on a cold day outside, its hard to get into gear... i mean, i have to match revs for it to go in..
now i normally do that anyway, but even if i dont, and its just somewhat close, it should go in.... it IS a production car trans.. GM doesnt expect everyone to match revs to shift...
but..... when my car is warm, it behaves perfectly normal... goes easily thru every gear, and is pure joy to drive..
so what makes it hard to get into gear when cold?
one more side question... my clutch lets out at the very top of its stroke.. i mean, the pedal is almost all the way up before it fully engages... is there a simple way to adjust it down so it engages fully at 3/4 of the way up?(and still fully disengages before the pedal goes to the floor) its kind of a comfort thing for me, athough every T56 ive ever driven is like this....

Dont think its possible. Another reason I like the mechanical linkage
. As far as the cold gearing, what type of fluid did you put in?

Just wait untill it starts breaking on you. you'll begin to hate it more than you'll ever know.
after your pedal arm has broke, the z-bar has busted, you can't find new parts, have to have the old parts welded, and your clutch won't ever release at the exact same point, hydraulic linkage is the only way to fly.

I bought a new slave cylinder at Oreilly's, for around 37 bucks, pumped out the bubbles, and put it all back together. All shifting has been perfect since. Hot or cold.

oh, my gears stay in when i get them in gear..
i can just feel what "FEELS" like teeth bumping instead of meshing when i try to put it in gear...
if i blip the throttle i'll go smoothly. its just annoying.
ive never had it come out of gear though
my master and slave cyl are BRAND NEW straight from GM... preblead too..

It sounds as if the clutch isn`t completely releasing and the trans is still slowly spinning making it hard to go in gear. Try this next time put it in reverse, then try to put it in first gear and see if it goes in easier then

i have to put it in first before i can shift to reverse
I'd pull the slave cyl and check to be sure the fork is seated on it's pivot correctly. If it popped out during installation, it won't pull the pressure plate correctly causing the clutch not to disengage fully...and make shifting clunky.

I agree with RB, sounds like a pilot bushing/bearing problem. If it was one or two gears you might suspect a synchro, but if it's every gear then it's something on the input side of the trans.
There is no easy way to alter your engagement point for the clutch. McLeod makes an adjustable slave that would do the trick though.
