how many speedo gear teeth
how many teeth are on the speedometer drive gear of my 700R4 transmission i am looking to order the gear to correct my speedo and i am not sure how many teeth it has. isnt it like 7or8?
No... it is not 7 or 8. You need to give us your setup info and we can calculate the speedometer gear set you need (probably gonna need to replace both).
Give us the following info:
Tire size: ###/##/R##
Rear gear ratio: 2.73? 3.43? 3.73? ????

Do a search on this forum on my userID and the phrase "SMUC"; I give the formula for calculating the gears with any rear gears, tire size, etc.
The drive gear in the 700 has around 15-18 teeth, and the driven gears are in the 40-45 range. Work out the formula, go to the dealer with a few possibities that put you real close, and see what gear combos you can acutally buy.

With those specs, your closets gears will be 15 tooth drive gear with a 44 tooth driven gear.
If you are unsure of exactly what you need, just call these people and buy this kit: http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/cata....php?ITEMID=14
It might be a couple more bucks, but it will save you aggrivation.
