will a world class t-5 be able to withstand 320 hp?

a friend of mine on this site has a World Class t-5, that i am buying . will it be able to withstand 320 hp? thats wut im estimating that will be coming out of my engine.

350ft lbs+ will eventually destroy it. It'll last a while tho if you don't abuse it....

It should be fine provided to don't intriduce it to lots of clutch drops and or slicks. Traction will eventually kill the T5, not power.

I have a NON W/C T5 and have had alot more HP than that to it since 86 with no problems...... the key is what shifty said

ok .....thanks guys.....shifty i love ur car:hail: :hail: :hail: sorry for being stupid but just to get it straight......clutch drops meaning- revving and dropping the clutch so the tires BURN.....is that it?

Thx for the kind words and you have the clutch drop idea down pat. They are really hard on the ol' T5

I agree TQ and HP with traction will eventually kill the T-5, my WC lasted over 18mos in my car with drag radials, granted, it did not hook. Another thing that is very hard on the T-5 is the fact that it does not like RPM, anything over 6k is living on borrowed time, the whole thirdgear cluster is just hanging out there all by itself, on it's own shaft and the syncro cannot keep up. That is what eventually killed mine (shifting at 6600). I was amazed it lasted as long as it did.

it seems like the only thing that ive found that go bad on manuals are the 3rd gear synchros........:werd:
