Tailshaft housing bolts

Transmission: 700r4 Transgo Shift Kit
Tailshaft housing bolts
I had to change the speedo gear. Im not sure what to torque the 4 tailhousing to unibell bolts to on my 700r4. Cant be too much because of it all being aluminum. A specific torque would be greatly appreciated. (Haynes manual doesnt have the spces in it)

how so? i was more worried about stripping the case out or cracking it then snapping the bolt. Is there some chart to follow. Like troque of the bolt is determined by the size of the head? or how many threads are on a bolt? or the diamater of the bolt? or the grade of material of what the bolt was made of? This seems very interesting. Ill torque them to 35 ft lbs.

It's determined by the diameter and thread pitch of the bolt, or more accurately, the necessary clamping load determines the fastener properties, and therefore the torque needed to tighten the fastenr to the point needed to produce the desired clamping force.... if it needed more or less clamping force, proper design technique would be to use the right size fastener.
The bolt head size is typically determined by the size of the threaded part, to allow for the proper torque to be applied to it without failing.
The need for a higher grade of bolt is usually determined by forces other than mere tightening that the bolt might have to deal with in normal operation.

Where can i find more information? That totally blew my mind. To think that a simple bolt is designed to such strict standards for specific applications. Where i can find more technical info about anything that i should probably know. Is there websites that i can learn from or do you have to go to school to know about that kinda stuff?

I don't know about web sites; there probably are some though. You can learn an amazing amount of stuff if you just look through catalogs of people that sell them, and look at their ratings and stuff.
You learn more about that sort of thing than you probably want to know if you study mechanical engineering in college.
