If you have carb studs, it goes on top of the back left lip of the carb, not underneith.

On the double pumper carbs there is a notch that that fits into. It keeps the bracket from being moved around by the preasure of the throttle cable. On Vacuum Secondary carbs like the one I am running there is no notch, so I made one. The metal is real soft on the carb baseplate.

You need to keep that tab so the bracket will stay secure. You could cut the tab off and just crank the bolt down, but then you risk warping the baseplate on the carb from overtightening and the bracket will probably still move.

You have it the right way when the bigger hole is on the bottom.

Here's a pic from when I had the Double Pumper on there. You can see the difference in baseplates that allows that tab to fit in there.

It's down, it got bent up by accident at one time and I bent it back so there's a light spot on the metal now. That may be what makes it look that way. I edited in another pick in the previous post.

Here's another pic with the Double Pumper.

Notice how theres a spot on the baseplate that's notched in? If you take the carb off and make a notch in the same location(the spot where the tab lands when you set it on there) it should work perfectly, just be careful not to cut too far into where the carb mates to the intake.

Here's a link to the Universal TV cable I have which is much easier to adjust and fine tune than the factory one.
http://www.transmissionhead.com/

Holley also has a bracket that bolts to the throttle linkage on the carb so that the TV cable hooks on in exactly the right location.

This is the geometry bracket you were talking about right? It does help keep things adjusted right. If you are using the factory cable and can adjust it so that it pulls out at the right rate and at the right time then you can do without it, but I would suggest ordering one to make life easier.

It makes the adjustment easy and it ensures that you have your trans adjusted cexactly right.
