yes, you will need a relay for the Park Nuetral Safety switch.

Actually, the neutral safety switch wires will get connected to one of the microswitches on the shifter (the reverse lights wiring will go to the other little microswitch). You shouldn't need a relay if you don't have EFI. The relay is needed if you have a circuit that tells the computer whether the shifter is in park or not (kind of like the neutral safety switch, but this one is used to raise the idle in park by ~100rpm)..

I would not connect those wires directly to the micro switch on the B&M, the switch probably won't last too long.

It was a bolt in for us, my B&M was in 3 different cars over the course of 1 year.
I didn't have a chance to use the switches, just used a paperclip in the original shifter harness to bypass the park/neutral switch.

You know, I looked at the instructions for the megashifter again (it's been a while since I installed it), and in the text instructions (which I followed originally) it says to connect the purple and yellow wires (the thicker ones) to the lower microswitch, and to connect the reverse light wires (dk. blue and light green) to the upper switch.. However, in the diagram, they show the thicker wires connected to the relay which is switched by the upper microswitch.. I guess I never looked in detail at the diagram and just followed the text instructions... I might have to go in there and change that (can get my idle increase back too); I bet that microswitch isn't rated to handle that current... Its been working so far (quite a long time now), but it seems when that when I notice that something isn't right is when it breaks, lol..

Thanks for the heads up, Z!

I did it exactly how this was said, works fine...I also fabbed a different bracket to use my factory shifter cable....works awesome too
