ok third geners heres one

I curruntly have an 84 T5 non world class in my Camaro which is leaking gear fluid like hell, I would like to replace it with the T5 in the 88 & newer camaros with the higher gear ratios or the T5 that came in the 93 cobras which are a little more stout.
can I just unbolt the 4 bolts to the bellhousing and replace with either of these trannies without fuss?

They say the Mustang T5 is canted at a wierd angle (because it's not Chevy) so I can see it not going in this guy's '82; but why won't the WC T5 go in there from a later Camaro?
Would he have to go with the hydraulic clutch setup?
All the stuff from a '91 T5 went right into my '82, just had to locate the clutch master cylinder.

The 88-up Camaro/Firebird trans will go right in. It's identical on the outside.

The F*rd trans is completely different. Don't bother.

They're all pretty much the same on the inside, as long as you compare 1st design transmissions, or 2nd design ones. F*rd, Chevy, etc; the gears are the same size, the shafts are the same size, they use the same bearings, the shafts are the same distance apart so the gears are the same diameter, etc. etc. etc. I have no clue where people get the idea that a F*rd T-5 is somehow stronger than a Chevy one. Pretty amusing really.

Well, maybe they think that Ford components have to be brutally hard to withstand being in a Ford--I know I would be.
Those little Mustangs have an image of being so fast, though, from back in the early '80's when they were the first to offer a stick shift V8 convertible again, and the poor, smogged, mostly automatic non-convertible Camaros just never caught up image-wise. Little do they know. The best days of the third gen Camaro are yet to come.

Well how do you explain why a 350 5 speed was never offered? Also I hear of 305s breaking 5 speeds, but see and have friends that have moded mustangs and there 5 speeds have no problems at all. Yes it is true that the internals are the same, but boy that case for the Chevy 5 speeds suck.

It can be done and has in a few vettes I know of. You have to make an adaptor plate to bolt the trans to the bellhousing. Not sure what other problems you might encounter in a f-body though.
