The link I posted below will tell you everything you need for your swap. It will also tell you how to do it.
As for your book, I'm not sure if all the parts you will need are in there. I would look in salvage yards first.

From my understanding, a regular 3rd Gen. F-Body 5 speed will not last long behind 350. This is why you do not see a stock 3rd Gen. F-Body that has a 350 mated to a 5 speed. The torque produced by the engine would kill the tranny. I know of a few that have had 5 speed behind a 350 but they are built to handle the HP/torque. Depending on what your 355 will produce, your stock 5 speed will last for a while until you get a replacement or even better, why install a 6 speed.

if you have any real power don't put in a t-5 I've gone through 2 and my 3rd is on it's way out, go with a t-56

yea, i agree with the look in the salvage yards first thing...just buy your soft parts (hoses, slave cylinder) new...the rest of the stuff will be fine used. also, don't trust a T-5 stock behind anything with serious power...my friend killed his in a matter of a year behind a TPI 305, and i have killed 2 behind TPI 305's...

t-5 will bolt in place of the auto, no problem, just cut the hole in the floor and cut the holes for the master cylender (the holes ore scored on the pad under the carpet, just trace to the meatle and cut, the hardest part is getting the brake booster/master cylender out), for the t-56 you will need to modify you crossmember or buy an aftermarket one, they go for $150-200 also the clutch/flywheel is diffrent and if U have a 1 peice rear main engine the factory T-56 combo will bolt on, but if you have a 2-pice it won't fit and you will have to do some reshearsh and decide which way is the best for you, also the speedo is eletric, which means you need to convert the car to an eletric speedo or have the tranny tailshaft machined to accecpt the mechanical speedo's "bullit"

I'm glad I was able to read this before I made a decision.
I have actually been thinking about swapping my lame 700R4 for T-5 (gotta love those stick shifts).
Now I will look at the T-56.

I'm assuming you are speaking about the mechanical speedo that bbigbrn612 has in his 84. I beleive that my 91 RS has a electric speedo already.:shrug::shrug:
