still confused- 3.73 or 4.10/4.11?

i have searched for my combo and gear selection- but i am still unclear as to what to get. some people say the 3.73 are stronger others think different. i am also confused as to what tc to get- which will work best with my gears/cam. this s-10 will be used for occasional weekend fun as well as drag racing. here is what i have:

383 with the cc306 cam (1.6 rockers)
between 10:1 and 11:1
heavily worked 113 heads
converted lt1 intake
700r4
7.5" rear
powertrax no slip
moser 28 spline axles
welded tubes
studded girdle
solid pinion spacer
26" or 26.5" (can't remember) hoosier QTP's

which gears should i buy and what stall on the tc? i was thinking about a 2800-3000 stall but on the fence with the gears. i am thinking of richmond or motive brand gears. i dont really care about gas mileage but i dont want to put the 3.73 in and wish i had put the others in later. don't know if it matters- but as i mentioned above this will be in an older body style s-10, and those are relatively light

Hey ljnowell, with his set up would the 2800-3000 stall work for him or would he be better off going with like 3000-3500 stall? remember, i already said i wasnt an expert on this!

dare i ask why this would get locked? i am asking a legit question- about these cars more or less. i have posted several other questions on here before w/o getting locked- i dont see why this one would be any different- besides the fact that this time i said what the gears were going in.

anyway- thanks for the advice- i was kinda thinking the 4.10/4.11 but i am still kinda scared of them breaking- not that the 3.73 would make the 10 bolt bullet proof

Ummm...because this is a Thirdgen site and not an s-10 site?

I would go with the 3.73's. Going with 4.10s will not make your rear end blow up as opposed to the 3.73's. With the .7 overdrive and the fact that you are still running factory heads, you will be better off with 3.73's. If you had a T-56, then I would go 4.10s.

HTH,

Don't worry about these guys, there are quite a few on here that are running cars other then 3rd gens, as long as you have something thirdgen related your fine.

Seeing as you have quite the motor there you might only need 3.73 with all that torque, but 4.10 wouldn't hurt you at all.

With that short of a tire, the fact these S-10's dont weigh hardly anything you should be using the 3.73's. It'd be different if your truck weighed 34-3600lbs but your probably a little lighter than that, so the way the motor sounds and the minimum weight you have it'll be all done before the finish line.

If your want to run the 4.11's get a minimum of a 28" tall tire.

Either way, your still going to have traction issues. Fought this in our tubbed S-10 running 31x14.5" slicks with 4.30 gears and a glide.

I agree, with the 700r4's 3.06:1 first gear stick with the 3.73's unless using a taller tire.

thats another thing i was worried about- traction with the 4.10's- not that the others will hook a lot better- but slightly better i would assume. although- i want this rear to last a little while- since i am about out of money- so i will have to save for a 12bolt or 9". i am hoping with the cheater slicks it will hook fairly descent (after getting them warm)- i would like a little wheel spin rather than nothing at all- less likely to break something. i was talking to the guy that did me heads last night- he said he thought i should go with the 3.73 because of how short the tires are. looks like it's time to head the the local shop and get some gears so i can get this thing buttoned up and hopefully drive a littl before it's time to put it away for the winter.

thanks for the advice.

i was thinking that i wasn't the only one roaming around on here w/o a third gen.
