Trans lines

Hey just thought I would throw out a quick question to the forum before I totally lose my mind. I am trying to get the trans lines hooked up so I can start the car next Saturday and to save my blankity blank life I can get the upper line connected. I have tried just about everything I can think of and just cannot get a tool in there to work on it.

I have even tried one of those "crow foot" wrenches. Anyone have any tricks of the trade?

it can be done, i usually use a short open end wrench for most of the job then a flare nut wrench for the finial torque

Found the problem.... The old line for some reason had messed up threads that only looked like they were OK. I put a new line in and that took care of things.

Got creative with the tools though. I found that a short open end wrench and a few minutes with a 3lb sledge and a vice can yield a very useful tool. A 90 degree open ended wrench that ends up being more compact than anything else I had.

Hello, I am having the same problem. I could attach the top line but not tighten it. And I can not get the bottom line on at all. I thought about unbolting the trans and lowering it for access. Also does the upper line attach to the upper spot on the radiator. Thanks.

Lowering the transmission helped me out a lot.

Yes, upper to upper and lower to lower.

I got rid of the hard lines and used braided hose so I can connect the fittings on the transmission before raising the transmission.

I use a pipe cutter and shortened the hard lines, cut 2" inches off each and used a braided line to reconnect, makes install a lot easier. Also works good for an external filter
